Still no tigers

Well, we have had our third “safari” drive this afternoon at Ranthambore National Park and we are still coming up with no tigers. The park is divided into zones, and tickets are purchased months in advance and the whole thing is feeling like a bit of a tourist trap. Fortunately this afternoon we were in zone 4 and it was much more scenic and peaceful compared to our two previous zones. We may be a little spoiled from our African adventures when we were on private reserves within national parks. Things operate a little differently here, and while we have a private jeep with a driver, a local guide, and our own permanent guide, Mahendra, it still feels like being thrown in with the masses and it’s a race to find a tiger.
One last shot tomorrow morning at 6:15 am but we don’t plan on staying out long because tigers are dawn and dusk and we’ve seen all we care to see of this park.
